Dear Priests, Deacons, Brothers, Sisters and faithful in Christ,

Greetings in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to you and your families.

"Share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless and poor into your home; when you see the naked, cover him and do not hide yourself from your own flesh. Then shall your light break forth like the dawn and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call and the Lord will answer; you shall cry and He shall say: Here I am, if you take away from the midst of the yoke, the pointing finger and speaking wickedness, if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as noon day."
(Isaiah 58: 7 – 10)

In this year of Synodality and Revival of the church, that is us. This is an opportunity to increase our faith by heeding and listening to the cry of the needy and afflicted in our society. It is that time again when briefly we turn away from our own sufferings for six weeks. During this time of Lent, we are reminded of the 40 days and 40 nights that Jesus fasted and prayed in the desert. It is a time to focus on our spiritual lives in a very special way: praying, fasting and almsgiving.

When I needed a neighbour were you there? How caring are we about our suffering brothers and sister?
With fervent prayers for your positive response to those in need; let us be blessings to others.

May God bless you all.

Sincerely

Rev. H. Vermaak, Chairman Lenten Sacrifice Campaign
