The Year of Mercy began when Pope Francis opened the Holy Door of St Peter's Basilica on 8 December 2015.

In our archdiocese the Holy Door of St. Mary's Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception was opened on 13 December 2015.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION
TO
THE MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Lord Jesus, Redeemer of humankind. Graciously look upon us as we kneel before you. We offer ourselves to you so that we may be truly yours. We, therefore, dedicate ourselves today to your Most Sacred Heart, so that we may be united with you forever.

There are so many people who do not know you, Lord, and who despise your holy law. Have mercy on all your people and hide us all in your Most Sacred Heart.

Do not allow, Lord Jesus, that, we, who believe in you, be separated from you no matter what the circumstances.
When we were baptised, we renounced Satan and all his works, his power, as well as his vain joys. We reaffirm today, that same baptismal promise. We want to obey only you and your Holy Church always.

Give us, we pray, your mercy to strengthen us in our resolve to keep your commandments, and that we may love one another sincerely with all our hearts in order to have a share in your eternal happiness. Amen.
