On 25 May 2017 we celebrate Africa Day. This affords us a wonderful opportunity to pray for our beloved African continent and ask Mary our Mother of Peace to pray for us. We invite you to the Mount Inungu - Mother of Peace pilgrimage.
Last year we had used two routes namely: the main Matopo National Park route and the alternative dust road. Due to the heavy rains of the past season the farm road was further damaged and some areas are still water logged, we thus advise pilgrims not to use the dust road. Matopo National Park charges $4,00 per person but those who will register through Christ the King will pay $2 per person, $2 for small vehicles, $10 minibus and $15 per bus.
The Pilgrimage will begin with registrations and payments at Christ the King Parish at 5:30. Pilgrims are however encouraged to register before 25 May at Christ the King Parish. Pilgrims can pay in cash, through ecocash, or through swipe. Those who cannot manage to pass by Christ the King may buy their tickets from our link person who will be situated at the Matopo gate. The entrance gate to be used is the one next to Matopo Police Station. The convoy will depart from Christ the King Parish at 6:30. At 8:15 the Stations of the Cross up the mountain will begin. On arrival at the top of the mountain we will together pray the Holy Rosary. At 10:15 we will begin the descent from the Mountain. Holy Mass will begin at 11:30 at the Mother of Peace Shrine. Please note that the cut off time for going up the mountain will be 9:15 and pilgrims will only come down from the mountain after the Rosary prayer. Your co-operation will make this pilgrimage a success.
Those pilgrims who cannot go up the mountain, or those who would arrive late, will begin the Rosary at the Labyrinth at 9:15. A talk on the Catholic Family as the Future of the Church will begin at 10:00. All pilgrims will gather at the Mother of Peace Shrine for Holy Mass at 11:30.
After the Holy Mass Pilgrims will then have ‘bring and share’ luncheon. Water and soft drinks will be available for sale. Emphasis is once again placed on the notion that this is a prayerful event and we acknowledge the prayerful atmosphere that was upheld in the previous year.
